About

Hi, I’m Mike Mason and this is my blog.

I have worked in the games industry for a number of years, both in employed and freelance positions:

My work includes developing and writing for the Dark Heresy RPG, Cthulhu Britannica for Cubicle 7 Entertainment, the 2013 revised Horror on the Orient Express, and co-authoring Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition for Chaosium Inc. Prior to my freelance writing I published and edited The Whisperer, a semi-regular magazine devoted to Lovecraftian games.

I spent a number of years at Games Workshop, managing Gamesday & Golden Demon as well as Grand Tournaments and other events.  I also helped to set up the independent Gaming Club Network and UK School’s League.

As Black Industries Manager I co-authored the Warhammer 40,000 RPG Dark Heresy as well as line managing both Dark Heresy and Wahammer Fantasy Roleplay lines. I edited and contributed to Purge the Unclean, the Inquisitor’s Handbook, the Game Masters Pack and Disciples of the Dark Gods. I also developed the Reaper expansion for the Talisman board game, as well as overseeing development for the Thousand Thrones campaign and Realm of the Ice Queen for Wahammer Fantasy Roleplay 2nd Edition.

I established and ran the Kult of Keepers, a group of independent games masters and scenario writers for the Call of Cthulhu RPG. Amongst the many conventions and events we ran was the Call of Cthulhu UK Nationals Tournament.
